Randy will be on stage as part of 24 Hour Musicals on April 13th at the Gramercy Theater!
The show will feature four short (15 minute), brand-new musicals written, rehearsed and performed over the period of a single day!
The creative team will arrive at the Gramercy Theater at 9 PM on Sunday, April 12 for a meet-and-greet. Each person brings a prop and a costume to inspire the writers. In the morning, directors, choreographers, and actors arrive for rehearsals. The unconventional time constraints create a tremendous amount of creativity and energy. Although actors have only one day to create characters and learn blocking, music and choreography, the musicals are performed without scripts in hand.
24 Hour Musicals supports the Orchard Project, an eight-year-old program that has served as a starting place for major, award-winning shows that have debuted in theaters across the United States and world.
Nine years ago we started this other amazing adventure, "randy-harrison.it", and slowly built a website which follows Randy's professional life and, in doing so, we also built some strong friendships! Some time ago we saw a photo of Randy with Bryn Hendricks, Communication Manager for Egale Canada Human Rights Trust, who told us to wait until the 12th of March to find out why Randy and several other artists appeared in some shots on the Organization's Facebook page... Now we know: the Organization, which is highly involved in helping LGBTQ2S young people, presented "Out at night", a national fundraising and awareness campaign, to help kids who have been kicked out after coming out as gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, etc. In a series of videos several artists speak up about the dangers of living in the streets and invite people to join them sleeping outside on the night of May 30th. Randy is one of the "Night Ambassadors", appearing in a photo on Out at night's website while wearing the campaign-logo black shirt:
Janine Lee Papio, producer of "Real Men Singing Showtunes" along with AKA Studio, just posted on her Twitter a short video of Randy singing!!! She also wrote about Randy "brilliant performance and such a gem"!
Last night Randy was at the Metropolitan Room for "Real Men Sing Showtunes" and we finally have a "glimpse" of his performance in a video posted on youtube, thanks to our precious Trish, who also told us that Randy sang a duet with Natalie Weiss called "Go Where the Love Is":
Randy just retweeted an article posted on Playbill a few days ago about "Real Men Sing Showtunes" and in a second tweet he wrote "looking forward to it!" In a few hours he will be performing at the Metropolitan Room in this production by AKA Studio and Janine Lee Papio! And, of course, we'll be waiting for a glimpse of his performance!
We're here to remind you that tomorrow night, March 9th at 9.30 p.m., Randy will be at the Metropolitan Room in New York for "Real Men Sing Showtunes: the songs of Thomson & Desmon", an AKA Studio production, directed by Jen Bender.
Such Good People, with Randy in a leading role, will be screened at the Tels Quels Film Festival in Bruxelles, Belgium, on March 9th 2015. The news, originally posted on the film's official Facebook page, has been tweeted by David Michael Barrett, the director!
