The country wife

The Reading itself was one of the more amusing ones that I have seen at Red Bull. It was however, also one of the more confusing with a dozen actors on stage! The story revolved around a Mr. Horner who, after a trip to France returns to England, where he and his doctor declare to the town that he is now a eunuch. His thinking is that men of honor will now trust him in the company of their women. He however, sees it as a way to seduce them.

A second storyline concerns Mr. Pinchwife and his much young wife Margery, whom he likes to keep locked up in the house away from possible suitors. A third storyline follows Pinchwife's sister Alethea and her impending marriage to the local "party guy," Mr. Sparkish.

Randy plays Mr. Dorilant, one of Sparkish's group of friends. He had most of his lines during the first act, but even then, his was a relatively small part. He and the other members of Sparkish's group have a rather boisterous conversation about the attributes of wives vs. mistresses. Randy's facial features and body language during the discussion were hilarious and properly overstated for this type of farce.

Late in the first act when Pinchwife has disguised Margery in boys' clothing to take her out on the town without anyone being the wiser, Horner and Sparkish's group, including Randy, in an effort to show how disinterested Horner is in sexual relations, begin to kiss Margery. They basically spin her around between them kissing her at every turn! And for some reason that I still don't quite understand, everyone was wearing silly hats during this scene. (The hat Randy wore actually looked like the one he wore in his visit to Israel, and he did take it with him when he left.)

Randy had very little to do in Act II, but he was totally interested in the action was would often break out in smiles and laugh at the performance of the other actors. He still has the most wonderful smile!

I'm afraid that's pretty much it! Although no Randy report would be complete without the obligatory wardrobe report, LOL! Randy had on tight black skinny jeans, with what looked like 5 lbs of his most prized possessions in each pocket, black lace-up ankle boots, and a mint green button down shirt. His short hair almost glowed with blond highlights in the overhead stage lighting. We didn't have a chance to speak with him after the reading, but he did smile and grin at us from the stage before the show when we gave him a little wave.
